Rainy Days

The Day:
Ahhhhhh. Peaceful, quiet, slow, lazy rainy days in FoCo. Gotta love 'em. I'm exhausted today which made it all the better. Sounds weird that I'm glad I was so tired I could barely keep my eyes open, but I am. I'm so chill and mellow like this- I barely give thought to any worries because I simply don't have the energy.
The Done:
I had a nice shower and let my hair wave in twist knot buns, went out and got some warm soup for lunch and lounged around at the book store. And oh! I was in Nirvana. Now back home the
fire is burning while the sweet pitter-patter of rain echos throughout the home.
The To-Do:
I'm getting into the doing mode however. Well, the planning mode for doing later. ;)
Somethings I want to try soon:
*Make my own bread
*Make a quote book
*Make a Scarf
*A melted Crayon art piece
*Dip Dyed Hair ends

Fin:
Had a fantastic mellow day. Now I have some great new books, ideas, and vibes. Now all these is to do is to slip into bed early and listen to the lullaby of the drizzling rain until I nod off.

Insight #1:

Hi guys! Sorry I was unable to post yesterday because A. my something new wasn't blog worthy. B. I honestly feel asleep before posting and C. I had a major insight only 5 days into this project that's gonna change it up.
Explanation of excuses:
A. My something new my Live Today #5: was painting my nails (It really was my first time- I have never painted them before!) and taking a powdered milk bath. Which is sooooo worth trying! It makes your skin silky smooth! Just run a bath and add some powdered milk to the water and Volia! An world class pampering bath! These two things were new to me but they aren't super exciting or blog worthy- I know. This triggered my insight.
B. no explanation needed. zzzzzzzzzzzz
C. Insight #1: This shouldn't be planed. Life is not a planned event. The purpose of this was to branch out but it will never happen if I try to make an agenda of it! I need to be spontaneous by going with the flow! I try way more than the one new thing a day that I've been posting about. And honestly the new things I try wouldn't be super exciting to  y'all but for me they make up my life and are the little happy things to enjoy and be grateful for. I could list over 50 little things that were new (in ways) to me that I did today, but that would be no fun to read. So hears the main point: I'll post when I can (still try to post often though) and about different lifestyle things. Maybe they will be things I'd like to do or things I have just recently done but, either way I shouldn't be planing a new thing a day, I should let it happen. Watch out though-  this blog is still increasing its amazing-ness! Stick around!

Crazy for Cupcakes!

Live Today #4:
Delicioso!

Cupcakes. Who doesn't love cupcakes? Well I think cupcakes are pretty stupendous and I've never made any before (absurd I know!) I thought, "Well what a scrumptious idea for my new thing?" And with that I was on my way. I found a really great red velvet recipe on a equally great website. It's Ming Makes Cupcakes
Simple ingredients!
(mingmakescupcakes.yolasite.com) and its simply a list of yummy (and super easy) recipes. If your looking for the red velvet one it's cupcake #4. Perfect for my 4th Live today event!  Any how they turned out to be the best cupcakes I have ever had! The recipe was simple and easy to follow. They pretty much went like so: mix the stuff, cook, eat the morsels of heaven. ;) Take half and hour from your day, turn on some tunes and try them! You won't regret it!

That's it for now! Thanks for reading!

The smell of rich earthy soil

They look so vibrant!
Live Today #3:
Hello all! So today I decided to tryout my green thumb. Out front there is a 8 by 5 garden bed that is fairly empty except for a few fading tulips and one fantastic cherry tree. I thought there should be some more color and liveliness about so I bought 5 packets of wildflower mixes. Hopefully they will take over the garden covering all the drab soil and messy weeds! Now I only planted them today so they won't be up for a bit but I've never planted wildflowers before and the pictures on the packets have me pretty dang excited for them to bloom! As I mentioned in my last post about the potato wedges I am addicted to rosemary so when I saw a plant at the nursery I just had to pick one up! Then my taste buds and hands teamed up against me to buy some mint and basil too. ;)  I'm not much of a gardener but I absolutely love the fresh earthy smell of soil, its just so soothing. Its drizzling here right now so hopefully it will help my plants to begin to sprout!
Yay for herbs!

Bon Appétit for Home-made Rosemary Garlic Potato Wedges

Live Today #2:
Bon appétit!

For a side dish tonight I decided to make a recipe I'd been eyeing for a while......Pan Fried Rosemary Garlic Potato Wedges! They were 10x easier to make then I was expecting and about 1000x yummier! They have a fantastic flavor and are a nice change of pace than our average potato dishes. They're super simple too. Plus they also only take around 30 minutes to make.
The Ingredients minus the potato wedges
Pan Fried Rosemary Garlic Potato Wedges:
About 4 medium-small potatoes of your choice
3 Tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 Teaspoon of salt
2 Tablespoons of rosemary leaves
2 Teaspoons of minced garlic
Ground mixed pepper (optional)
Extra Olive oil (optional)

Tasty Morsels!
Slice your potatoes in wedges, heat your oil in a frying pan with the heat on medium. Add in the potatoes and salt. Stir every 4 minutes or so and let the potatoes crisp up for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. While letting the potatoes brown drizzle extra olive oil if wanted. Add in minced garlic and rosemary leaves. Stir in then cover on medium-low for 5 minutes. If crispy and brown enough take off and enjoy!

New Thing: Delicious artisan potato wedges.

Would I make them again: Yes yes yes! I have an addiction to Rosemary and Olive oil so these were a delicacy for me. Great side that would go with anything!

Let the Wild Rumpus Begin!

Hey guys! Sorry I couldn't post on the project start date but I was having some technical difficulties. I swear, blogger always thinks I'm hacking into my own account therefore, resulting in not letting me in! :( All's well that ends well I guess! So for my first posting of the new thing I tried: (drum roll, please)
Live Today #1: Fashion Show!

Newsprint Dress

My lovely friend Frida and I went out last night to a fashion show! Well a recycled fashion show that is. It was a fundraiser for Western Resource Advocates(WRA). WRA works to have cleaner energy so we can have cleaner water, air and land. WRA teamed up with a local salon and spa here, Europa and a fish restaurant, Jax. Last night they held their 2012 Catwalk for Water where other Fort Collins businesses could enter a model. The catch was all the dresses could only be made of recycled items that represented somewhat who the company was. It turned out to be really, really cool! There were so many different materials! We saw dresses made out of paper, bike parts, plaster, fishing nets, magazines, 6-pack of beer containers, and so much more. We had a blast! And of course since it was First Friday that meant Free Art Galleries, so we just had to stroll through a few. To top off the night we had some stupendous Walrus Ice Cream.
Fishing net and sea shell dress
New Thing: Fabulous recycled fashion show.

Would I do it again: Depends, a real high fashion show might not be my taste but, another creative FoCo fundraiser fashion definitely!

Thanks for reading!
I'll try to post later about today's new event!

Project Launch in 3.....2.....1.....

So, my project begins two days! I'm stoked! Doing one new thing a day will really do me good. Lately I've had some health issues going on and they've put me in some what of a funk. Expanding my "I've done that!" list will help get me back to my usual life loving self!
Some things I think I will try:
*Talk to a stranger-genuinely though, a real conversation.
*Make Ice cream- Yummy!
*Go a whole day without electronics- except maybe the radio...I'll have to post about it the next day!
* Cook exotic foods
*Write a letter to random people around the world- and hope for a response.
*Make something of my own.....like a scarf or something-gotta remember K.I.S.S (keep it simply..silly!)
*Watch old movies I've never heard of
*Run a New Trail
*Be vegan for a day
*Cliff dive at Horsetooth  Reservoir
*Go to a concert at the Aggie...maybe even Red Rocks!

Who knows what I'll do or where I'll be in even just a month from now, but I'm excited to begin the journey and see where the current takes me.
Please subscribe and share! It would mean a lot!

What do you think I should do? Post your ideas below!
